Justice of the Peace Fees and Charges
When filing for a case or paying a fine please send a Cashier's Check or Money Order made out to Smith County. Be sure to include all your information on the payment.

You have the option to pay your fines online, by phone or by coming into the applicable JP office.

The following online options are avaiable depending upon the JP Court Precinct:

Charges associated with using Government Payment Services: (JP 2, 4, and 5)
  • Service fees charged for making payments by phone or online are determined by Government Payment Services and are charged in addition to your assessed fine.
  • Service fees for phone service are 5% of the assessed fine with a minimum charge of $5.
  • Service fees for internet service are 3.5% of the assessed fine with a minimum of $3.50
  • When determining service fees, give GPS the assigned fine amount and they will calculate the additional fees charged as a service fee.
  • Telephone payments can be made by calling 1-888-604-7888
Charges associated with using Certified Payments: (JP 3)
  • Service fees charged for making payments by phone or online are determined by Certified Payments and are charged in addition to your assessed fine.
  • Service fees for internet service are 2.85% of the assessed fine.
  • When determining service fees, give Certified the assigned fine amount and they will calculate the additional fees charged as a service fee.
  • Telephone payments can be made by calling 1-866-539-2020
