Elections and Voter Registration
Welcome to the Elections Administration Office for Smith County. The functions of the Smith County Elections Department are to register voters and maintain accurate voter registration rolls for the 73 Smith County precincts. We also conduct all countywide and special elections, as well as elections conducted under interlocal contracts. 

The goal of the elections department is to provide and protect the voting rights of the citizens of Smith County and assure them that the vote they cast will be effectively and accurately tabulated.

Information Concerning Emergency Services District (ESD) Candidates


A Candidate must provide a sworn statement containing the following if they intend to run for an ESD elected position:
  • Candidates intention to run for Emergency Services Commissioner
  • Which ESD district and single member district
  • Name as it will appear on the ballot
  • Age
  • Physical Address.

The filing period is July 21 - August 18, 2014 and the information must be filed at the Elections Office, 302 E. Ferguson Street, between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00 pm.

Upon receipt of the information above, the Elections office will file mark the sworn statement and give the candidate a copy.

Please note the following important information:
  • Voter Registration Deadline:
    To be eligible to vote in any election you must be registered 30 days prior to Election Day. Please check out our voter registration page for details on how to do this.
  • Address Change Online:
    If you have moved within the county, you may change your name or address online. Click here to take advantage of this service provided by the Secretary of State.
  • Be a Poll Worker:
    If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, please take a moment to fill out this application and mail or fax it back into us. We always appreciate the help! Earn a few extra dollars and do your community a service.
